Long Day's Journey Into Night
Jonathan Kent
This film will be followed by a 20 minute Q&A
Taking place over the course of 24 hours, Kent's adaptation of Eugene O'Neill's play depicts the Tyrones, who, despite attempts at affection and intimacy, are locked in a cycle of conflict and resentment. The youngest son, Edmund (Colin Morgan), returns home from time at sea to find the family breaking down under the weight of addiction and illness. Kent's cinematic lens on the theatrical text is fearless and unflinching. Coming to Dublin for its world premiere, this foundational American tragedy is ennobled by the lead performances of Jessica Lange and Ed Harris.
